Wikipedia (TeamSpeak discription)

TeamSpeak is proprietary voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) software that allows computer users to speak on a chat channel with fellow computer users, much like a telephone conference call. A TeamSpeak user will often wear a headset with a microphone. Users use the TeamSpeak client software to connect to a TeamSpeak server of their choice, from there they can join chat channels.

The target audience for TeamSpeak is gamers, who can use the software to communicate with other players on the same team of a multiplayer game. Communicating by voice gives a competitive advantage by allowing players to keep their hands on the controls.

Who Are Teamspeak (TeamSpeak History)

It all started in 1999 as a personal project for a group of friends who met each other playing an online game. At the time, the available voice communication applications lacked cross-platform compatibility, were plagued with router and firewall issues, and relied heavily on bandwidth and system resource utilization. Knowing we could do better, we set out on a mission to develop a solution of our own - a high quality, lightweight, full-featured alternative now known as TeamSpeak.

In 2001, the first public version TeamSpeak was released. We achieved our goals and did what we set out to do. Our software was not limited to a single platform, needed less bandwidth than other applications, and required minimal firewall and bandwidth usage. All with a user-friendly interface. TeamSpeak was quickly spreading across the Internet, far surpassing expectations. The overwhelming feedback from the community motivated us to continue our development efforts with TeamSpeak.

Today we're continuing to build on past achievements with continuous optimization of our product, as well as implementation of features and functionality unsurpassed in the industry today. TeamSpeak is among the most recognized and successful brands in the VoIP industry and is utilized in a wide spectrum of applications, from online gaming to business communications to education and training.

Okay that should give you the idea of what it is however there is so much more to it than just a phone system that uses the internet and lets us talk to each other free of charge. And let me tell you it is very good at what it does and by far the best system I’ve seen over the years and why I still stick with it as it offers the most control over what it can do. Along with the clear audio quality and small foot print it just delivers like nothing else I've used. And unlike most in game systems I've used including World of Tanks it has very little hickups.

How to Install TeamSpeak

  3. Now that it’s installed as soon as you open or launch it for the first time it should start a setup wizard.
  4. Follow the steps and answer the questions the best you can and for the most part it’s as easy as that.

  7. So hopefully myself or someone else is around to give you your tags this will finish the setup process however if you want to get a little extra out of TeamSpeak there is a few extra little things you can add to it to get a little more bells and whistles out of it but for the most part that's it you are all set up and ready to chat and play with the rest of us.
